The Negroni sbagliato

Planning a weekend party? Perhaps you're looking for a welcome drink for a dinner party. Jeanne Calitz recommends you kick back and kick off with a sparkling welcome drink (which can be low-alc if you prefer). Her recommendation is a Negroni sbagliato. She describes it as the perfect welcome drink – a sparkling invitation to have a good time.
Ingredients
Method
- 30 ml sweet vermouth
- 30 ml Campari
- Prosecco (or sparkling wine), for serving
- slice of grapefruit, for serving
- curl of orange zest, for serving
Method
Ingredients
1. In a tumbler or Champagne flute, combine: sweet vermouth and Campari.
2. If you’re using a tumbler, add ice. If you prefer a flute, omit the ice but make sure the Prosecco is icy cold. Either way, top up the vermouth mix with Prosecco or sparkling wine and garnish with a slice of grapefruit or a curl of orange zest. Cin cin!
Cook's note: For a low-alcohol version, substitute the Campari with Abstinence blood orange apéritif.
