If you haven’t tried mortadella yet, now’s the time. This iconic Italian deli meat is loved for its silky texture and subtle, savoury flavour. Made from finely ground pork and traditionally speckled with fat (and sometimes pistachios or peppercorns), it’s seriously versatile. While it’s perfect layered on a sandwich, it also shines when crisped up or paired with bold ingredients. To celebrate the arrival of this Italian deli staple at Woolworths, we’ve created two easy, elevated recipes to help you make the most of it.
Mortadella pizza
This pizza is layered with ribbons of mortadella, torn burrata, a drizzle of basil pesto, and a scattering of pistachios. The result? Creamy, nutty and savoury with just the right amount of chewiness from the meat. It’s a little luxe, a little rustic and totally crowd-pleasing.
Mortadella dip
